EsF Initiatives

Our goal for EsF is to identify innovative educational initiatives worldwide that are based on Montessori principles, and support them with mentorship and resources, guiding them towards sustainability, expansion and replication.

EsF initiatives are based on the following principles:

  • Promote a culture of peace, solidarity and equality
  • Have a clear Montessori vision of the child's contribution to social reform
  • Demonstrate understanding of Montessori principles and practices with the needs of a community in mind
  • Embrace community involvement and engagement in the project design and implementation
  • Focus on empowerment and longterm sustainability
  • Use inclusiveness approach in regards to gender, language, culture and socio economic status
  • Understand the value of Montessori principles as a contribution to non-violent social change
  • Embodies the EsF declaration

EsF aims to support a wide range of projects including, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • At risk populations
  • Remote and indigenous communities
  • Expansion of Montessori education into the public school structure
  • Advocacy for children and youth
  • Initiatives for adolescents
  • Programmes and materials for parent education
  • Programmes to help and advocate for at risk women during pre and post-natal periods
  • Home schooling and family day care centers
  • Inclusive education programmes
  • Montessori approaches for the elderly with dementia
