Cuentepec: A Love Story between Montessori Adolescents and the Indigenous Population in Mexico

Cuentepec: A Love Story between Montessori Adolescents and the Indigenous Population in Mexico

This video is presented by Guadalupe Borbolla about a community-work project that has developed with the indigenous community in Cuentepec. By focusing on the notion of community-building at the adolescent level, it addresses the principle of “building sustainability of practice rooted in collaborative community effort” regarding adaptation in changing times and circumstances. The older adolescent, independent in many respects, is an active humanist worried about the great problems of the world. She considers that community work is a major component that has great value for the personal development of older adolescents, for it allows them to orient themselves better in society using their newly acquired self-knowledge and personal behavior in their interactions with others. This external experience gets them nearer to the social reality of their environment and awakens in them the social consciousness that results from their focus on others.
