ESF Projects

Our goal for ESF is to identify innovative educational projects worldwide that are based on Montessori principles, and support them with mentorship and resources, guiding them towards sustainability, expansion, and replication.

EsF projects are based on the following principles:

  • Promote a culture of peace, solidarity and equality
  • Have a clear Montessori vision of the child's contribution to social reform
  • Demonstrate understanding of Montessori principles and practices with the needs of a community in mind
  • Embrace community involvement and engagement in the project design and implementation
  • Focus on empowerment and long-term sustainability
  • Use inclusiveness approach in regards to gender, language, culture and socio economic status
  • Embodies the EsF declaration

EsF aims to support a wide range of projects including but not limited to the following areas:

  • At risk populations
  • Remote and Indigenous communities
  • Expansion of Montessori Education into the public school structure
  • Advocacy for children and youth
  • Initiatives for adolescents
  • Programmes to enable parents, families and communities to support children in the first years of life
  • Outreach to libraries using Parent Support Initiative Materials
  • Programmes to help and advocate for at risk women during pre and post-natal periods (teen moms, women in prisons, single immigrant mothers, homeless, drug addicts)
  • Home schooling and family day care centers
  • Special needs children
  • Montessori approaches for the elderly (assisted living, or home, disabilities, Alzheimer or dementia)
